BBC Exclusive And Acoustic Set, Recording News, Myspace Update, Summer Send-Off

Yes yes y'all,

Really fun but very tiring few days here at the EC camp...

On Thursday we dropped in to BBC Leeds to appear on West Yorkshire's Raw Talent with Alan Raw as part of BBC Introducing. We came straight from mixing one of our brand new tracks and gave Alan the first exclusive play of 'Home'. Later on in the show we played an acoustic set 'Don't Stop', 'Rain', and 'Intoxicating'. We were really pleased with how the show went and we are grateful for the support that the BBC (in particular BBC Leeds) are giving us at the minute!

Listen to the show again here -

'Home' is played at 1hr5min and the acoustic set starts at 2hr8min. We will try and make the acoustic tracks available to download once the iPlayer link expires.

-----SUMMER SEND-OFF--------

Big thanks to everyone who came to our show at the University of Huddersfield. It was such a pleasure to see such a great mix of familiar and new face and, I'm sure you'll agree, that it was a brilliant way to kick off our summer tour. We love ya Huddersfield!!

After appearing on BBC Leeds we dashed back to the studio in Castleford where we have been recording our tracks. We officially finished mixdown at 2am Friday morning - phew! This has been a major undertaking for the band and we'd like to thank Steve Whitfield for recording us, and his endless supply of wasabi peanuts! Nice one.... keep your ears and eyes peeled for news regarding these recordings.

We've updated our pictures on myspace - there are lots of wicked new pictures up of our most recent gigs and some promo shots. Take a look here

Ok, our next show is tomorrow at Leamington Peace Festival, Leamington Spa. We're on stage at 2.15pm and we're praying for lovely weather!!

BBC Introducing LIVE session, University of Huddersfield, EOW UK Final, EC at Luddfest cancelled

Yes y'all

Ok, got some super-exciting news about things we are going to be involved with very soon!!

----------UNIVERSITY OF HUDDERSFIELD------------

We are playing a special show at the University of Huddersfield's Student Union TOMORROW night (June 15th). It is results day for students there, the event is FREE, and you DON'T have to be a student to come to this gig. We are set to play at 9pm so make sure you're not late!

Here's the FB event link!/event.php?eid=129433310414729

The lovely folk at BBC Leeds have invited us along to play a special acoustic session for Alan Raw's West Yorkshire Raw Talent show. The programme is on from 7-10pm and we are set to play at roughly 8pm (but tune in before to make sure you don't miss us!). You can listen to the show from the BBC Radio Leeds website or on 92.4-95.3 FM and DAB. I will also post a link to the iPlayer once the programme has been broadcast. This is set to be AWESOME!!!!

Ever since Jack Flash won the EOW World Championship last year we have begun to form strong bonds with the EOW family. As well as the international freestyle competition they hold they also put on and promote some amazing gigs. We are pleased to announce that Extra Curricular will be playing one of these gigs at Mass in Brixton on July 1st. This is the UK final of the freestyle championship so if 8 mile style show downs are you're thing you need to be here! Also appearing on the bill are the Speakers Corner Quartet (doing a J Dilla tribute!), DJ MK (Kiss and Roots Manuva), and DJ Snuff and Jazz T. What is going to make this gig so special is that JEHST, MICALL PARKNSUN, DUBBLEDGE, MYSTRO, STIG OF THE DUMP, MANAGE, and KINGPIN will all be appearing on stage with Extra Curricular!!!!!! This is going to be a totally new experience for us, and trust us; we have been rehearsing this hard and it's going to be OUT OF THIS WORLD especially as the legendary SIR COXON SOUND SYSTEM will be running the Dub Arena in room 2 - WOW!

Facebook event here

Unfortunately, due to funding issues Luddfest (which we were set to play this coming Saturday 19th) have had to cancel their main stage - this means we will NOT be playing Luddfest this year. They are still putting on some acoustic acts near the festival site so, if you were planning on going to see other acts as well as us, please still go. We wish all the people involved in running and performing at Luddfest all the best and hope they manage to sort out the required funding for next year :)

That's it for now, we are in the studio most of this week doing the final mixes on the new tracks :)

I'll post an updated gig list, along with the iPlayer link later this week!

One Love,

P.S special thanks to Annie May Fletcher for the picture edit used in this post :)

The Final Episode of Jack Flash 24, Submotion Orchestra EP, Bristol

It's been a funny week here at EC headquarters....

Flash has been out in New York and Ruby has been rolling with the dubstep crew so we've been hitting the rehearsal room hard - allow me to explain....

-----------FINALE OF 24-------------

Jack Flash has been on a rap quest to spit 24 bar verses, over 24 different beats, over 24 weeks and.... HE'S DONE IT! Here is the final instalment direct from NEW YORK no less... a fitting ending to an amazing collection of verses...

Make sure you check the other 23 episodes on Youtube or check

-----------SUBMOTION EP------------

Not to be outdone Ruby has been rolling with Leeds dubstep crew Submotion Orchestra and they've put together a tight EP featuring some blissed out beats - proper chillin' music.

grab a copy from if dubstep is your thing.

Also, check out nice :)

We're playing at The Golden Lion in Bristol this Friday so, if you're in the area, come catch the Extra Curricular LIVE show!!! Here's the venue
